Allegedly, they are minions of Yaldaboath aka the Demiurge aka YAHWEH (the Old Testament God of the Bible). The Gnostics claimed that the blood offerings to this god by the Israelites pleased Him and in return YAHWEH helped them slaughter their enemies. Allegedly, these Archons are tasked with deceiving and imprisoning souls in a perpetual cycle of reincarnation upon Earth which they consider a jailhouse.

Allegedly, they feed on the negative energy released when the emotion of fear is invoked within someone, and they also receive energy through the prayers and supplications of the ignorant in the name of YAHWEH. They believe that the tunnel of light that you see when you die is just a trap to get you back into the cycle of reincarnation, and to escape this cycle you have to go towards the darkness in the opposite direction. They say it’s the darkness that leads to the true light, and the light at the end of the tunnel is just a false light created by the Demiurge and his Archons.
