Spirit guides do not hold or keep someone on a path until a contract is fulfilled. While there are agreements, these agreements are ratified or rescinded constantly based on the free will of the non-physical personality. Everything revolves around free will—the free will of the non-physical personality, not that of the avatar. The avatar (John Doe) does not possess free will. 

As a non-physical personality, you have free will and are not obligated to do anything you do not wish to do. If you do not want to incarnate, you are not required to. There are many non-physical personalities who have no desire to incarnate at all and even question why anyone would choose to do so. They feel, “The juice isn’t worth the squeeze.”

Nothing is keeping anyone here. It is belief—whatever that may be—that causes people to choose to remain here. Some, however, do not choose to stay and instead leave. Whatever the choice, there is no judgment either way in the non-physical realm. Additionally, there is a tendency to bring time and space theory into the comprehension of the non-physical.

Here’s how it works: You pre-plan your incarnation with an overarching objective or a few main objectives in mind. Counselors (a term I prefer over “spirit guides”) are present during this process and help simulate probabilities in an artificial 4D time-space environment to see what could or would happen. 

Various alternate realities are viewed by the non-physical personality instantly, and decisions are made regarding which timeline to incarnate into, with which parents, and so on. Since non-physical personalities are not constrained by time or space, they can choose to switch between alternate realities.

A question to ponder in the morning: Are you 100% certain you are on the same timeline you were on the day before, prior to going to sleep?
